To design intuitively is to create a home that reflects your lifestyle. Whenever anyone walks into your intuitively designed home, it speaks to them, they sense a style, a personality, and a flow; they sense YOU.

Although flooring, furniture, wallpaper, colour palette, lighting — the headline features of your home may be the very first things which grab attention in your interior, when you take a closer look you begin to understand the personality behind this design. From vintage candlesticks and contemporary art prints to seashells from your favourite holiday paradise — you can tell an awful lot about someone just by admiring the little decorative extras they choose to display in their interiors.

So, what’s your home accessories personality, and what does it say about you? Let’s find out.

The Minimalist

Minimalists are generally all about ‘living for less’. Less financial burden, less stress, less complications, less clutter in all facets of life, including your home of course. Do you love clean, clear surfaces? Does the sight of a cluttered shelf drive you to distraction? If you love your interiors sleek and untroubled by trinkets, you’re probably a home accessory minimalist. You’ll ensure that you have the elegant essentials but, when it comes to décor, you’re strongly of the opinion that “less is more”. You believe in letting your space speak for itself and love an orderly lifestyle.

The Eclecticist

Knowledgeable, Daring, Different! These are all qualities of an eclectic personality. The eclecticist is usually a home accessories hoarder. They often find themselves combing through little shops and boutiques for that perfect little unique extra which nobody else has. They are a lover of all things eclectic. In all likelihood, if you’re an eclecticist, your home accessories take pride of place in your interiors, creating eye-catching, busy and unusual spaces. You’re almost certainly a creative type with a very well developed sense of personal style. We are willing to bet you’re a flamboyant dresser too.

The Collector

Just as the name implies, if you have a passion which has spilled over into your design choices, you’re almost certainly a collector. Whether it’s Fela memorabilia or decorative ceramics, your interest has seriously impacted your interior design. If you’re a collector type, it’s likely that you’re a very passionate person with a real love of learning and discovery. You may also be a very proud person, keen to have your say and show the world what you’re all about. Your home is your sanctuary.

The Traveller

You’ve been all over the world, and so has your home, well figuratively. African masks, Indian jewellery, Greek pottery, South American textiles…if you have a thirst for travel and adventure, your itchy feet will probably have impacted your interior design. If your home is full of trophies from your adventures, you’re almost certainly an extrovert with an open approach to life. Traveller types love to uncover new things and meet new people.

The Antiquarian

Is your home full of vintage accessories and retro pieces? Do you love a 1950s vibe? Perhaps you love a 1920s art deco look? In recent times, the term, ‘Antiquarian minimalism’ has become a growing trend in the design industry. This is a fusion of maximalism and minimalism in an elegant way to portray a museum typesetting, furniture and design. Simply put, a vintage/retro minimalist home.

If your collection of home accessories is informed by bygone eras, you’re an antiquarian. Antiquarians are often quiet and thoughtful, they often feel nostalgic about the past and relish the good old-fashioned values of yesteryear. You’re also probably a real romantic at heart — and partial to a daydream.

The Glamour Puss

Glitz, glamour, gold — interiors which are full of decadent accessories and extravagant details can only belong to true glamour pusses. Glamorous designers take great pride in their personal appearance, often finding themselves concerned with how others see them. Above all, however, this home accessory type is warm, welcoming people who appreciate the finer things in life and love to create a big impact wherever they go.
